How to Interest Your Kids in Science the Fun Way!

Whether your family is into camping, museums, or stay-cations, we’ve got a list of fun ways to engage your little’s brains and get them thinking about science without feeling like they’re going to be graded!

There are way too many fun ideas out there, so we will just list a smattering to get you started.

  1. Make your own ice cream!
  2. Subscribe to a monthly science kit! Spangler Science Kit and Kiwi Crate, Inc. are great options!
  3. Get your kids in the garden! Learn about vegetables, fruits, flowers – whatever they’re into! It’s pretty neat to watch things grow
  4. Visit a local museum or science center
  5. Plan a road trip to a national park or famous science museum
  6. Download an awesome app for outdoor fun
  7. Who doesn’t love bottle rockets?
  8. Make slime
  9. Make magnetic slime
  10. Edible play-dough!
  11. Make your own bird feeder and watch which birds (or other animals!) come for it
  12. Wow your kids with really big bubbles
  13. Create a levitating ball
  14. Toast marshmallows in your own solar oven
  15. Create a robot that colors for you
  16. Start a blog documenting your science adventures!
  17. Search for a science camp in your area (did you know they had those?)
  18. Have your kids to do the cooking (this could be a win-win 😉
  19. Learn about constellations, and then try to identify them at night
  20. Experiment with different homemade non-toxic mosquito-repellent solutions

There you have it! Just a bit to get you started. There’s so much fun stuff to do. You can also park yourself in a lawn chair with a lemonade and watch the kids explore on their own. Up to you!
